Wow, what a wonderful year it was for Dobot.us/IP Tech! In 2019 hundreds of schools added industrial robotic education into their schools with the Dobot Magician! The magician continues to be a powerful and affordable way for schools to provide a hand-on robotics education.

Here are some of the highlights of the year and things to look forward to next year:

  • 2019 RENi Grant – We were pleased to award our inaugural RENi grant to Copley High school in the Akron, OH area. Kirby Harder, the robotics teach at the school, has been providing us periodic updates on their progress throughout the year. This is the school’s first robotics program and it has been fun to watch them implement the Dobot Magician into the classroom for the first time. If you haven’t been following their story you can still catch up on our blog.
  • copley grant

  • We released 2 new units of curriculum this year! Both were written by Chris Hurd, a Project Lead the Way teacher of the year and robotics expert! The curriculum is available for free to download at www.dobot.us/k12. The two units are Introduction to Robotics with one focused on using the teach and playback interface and the other for programming the Dobot Magician with Blockly. This brings us up to 5 units of free curriculum!
  • We were able to meet hundreds of teachers and students at the ASME Conference in Salt Lake City, UT, the ITEEA Conference in Kansas City, KS and the PLTW Summit in Anaheim, CA.
  • Next year we hope to meet more of our friends at the PLTW Summit in Anaheim and at the ACTE conference and UCET conferences in Utah!
  • A new Vision Kit with improved software was released. Learn more here.
  • An Arduino communication package allowing the Dobot Magician to interface with an Arduino controller was released. Learn more here.

We are also exited to announce the pending release of the Dobot Magician Lite and 6-axis CR6 robots! Both are available for pre-order and more information can be found at here and here.

As we continue to expand our user base throughout the country, we would love to hear stories of success implementations. Pictures, videos, and stories will help us guide other classrooms as they work to include industrial robotics in 2020. We are also looking into bringing the Dobot World Robot Contest to the US. Information on last year’s competition can be found here. If you are interested in being a part of a US chapter – please let me know. This is going to be an exciting year and I hope to hear from all of you soon!
